Chopin’s Warsaw⑥

Since his first public concert at the age of eight, which was a great success, he often performed in public as a child prodigy.

At the age of ten, he played for Madame Catalani, one of the greatest singers of the time, and was presented with a gold watch as a memento.

At the age of eleven, he performed in front of Tsar Alexander I of Russia, who had come to Warsaw for the opening of the Sejm (the Polish National Assembly).

Around this time, he was occasionally invited to the Belweder Palace as a playmate for the son of Grand Duke Konstantin Pavlovich, the Viceroy of the Kingdom of Poland, and played piano for the Grand Duke.

When Chopin was seven, he composed a military march and presented it to Grand Duke Konstantin.

In Łazienki Park, famous for the Chopin monument, concerts are held on Sundays. By chance, the lunchtime concert featured a performance by the Japanese pianist Rinko Kobayashi. I was able to stop by this concert at the end of my trip. After traveling across the vast plains of the Mazovia region and participating in a folk dance workshop, I felt that the sense of rhythm in the performance by the pianist, who also lives in Warsaw, was especially convincing.

Unfortunately, the Belweder Palace was closed to visitors. On the last day of my trip, the final Sunday of September, the weather turned cloudy, the wind picked up, and I felt the end of summer.

8歳で初めての公開演奏会が大成功に終わって以来，神童として度々人前で演奏を披露するようになります。

10歳のときには，当時 最も偉大な歌手の一人だった，マダム・カタラーニの前で演奏し，記念に金時計を贈られています。

11歳のときには，セイム(ポーランドの国民会議)の開会のためにワルシャワに来ていたロシア皇帝アレクサンドル1世の御前で演奏を披露しています。

また この頃，ポーランド立憲王国の副王だったコンスタンチン・パヴロヴィチ大公(コンスタンチン1世)の息子の遊び相手としてベルヴェデール宮殿に時々招かれ，コンスタンチン大公のためにピアノを弾きました。

コンスタンチン大公には，ショパンが7歳のころ 軍隊行進曲を作曲して贈っています。

ショパン像でも有名なこのワジェンキ公園では、日曜日にコンサートが行われています。偶然にもお昼の時間のコンサートは日本人の小林凛子さんの演奏でした。
旅の最後にこのコンサートに立ち寄る事ができました。マゾヴィア地方の広大な草原を旅して、民族舞踊のワークショップにも参加した後、やはりワルシャワ在住のピアニストのリズム感にとても説得力を感じました。

残念ながら、ベルヴェール宮殿は入場閉鎖されていました。
旅の最終日9月最後の日曜日は、曇りがちになり、風も強くなり、夏の終わりだと感じました。
